PUFF PASTRY CAKE WITH CARAMELIZED ONION JAM AND CAMEMBERT CHEESE

MUST HAVE:

  • Puff Pastry Dough in Sheets
  • 2 onions
  • 70 g of brown sugar
  • 20 ml of apple cider vinegar
  • 30 g balsamic vinegar
  • 160 ml of water
  • 120 g Camembert cheese
  • 15 g walnuts

THE DISH WILL SUCCESS IF YOU COOK IT AS FOLLOWS:

  1. Coarsely chop the onions. Fry them in a hot pan for about 3 minutes. Add the brown sugar and fry for another 3 minutes until the onions are golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar. Mix well. Add water and cook until the jam thickens to a dark caramel color. Stir occasionally.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough evenly. Place Camembert cheese on it. Cut the dough around the cheese into even strips.
  4. Brush the resulting cake with egg wash. Place the onion jam on top of the cheese and sprinkle with walnuts.
  5. Wrap the cheese in strips. Brush it with egg. Bake in an oven heated to 200C degrees for 15-20 minutes.
